Jerry D. Gilner, 67, died Thursday, January 21, 2016, at his residence.
A native of Oklahoma, he was a resident of the Hinesville area from 1977 to 1980 and, recently, was a resident of Ludowici for the past five years. He was retired from the U.S. Army after twenty years of service, including two tours in Vietnam. He went on to retire from the U.S. Postal Service after twenty years of service in Ponca City, OK. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Jerry is survived by his wife Doris L. Yarbrough Gilner of Ludowici; three sons, Rhett Gilner (Angela) of Ashburn, VA, Joseph Gilner (Gabriela) of Bon Aire, GA, and Jason Gilner (Shaylee) of Blackwell, OK; sister, Sandra June Lamb (Lonnie) of Owasso, OK; five grandsons, one granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Monday, January 25, 2016, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Funeral Services will begin at 11:30, Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel with Rev. Mike Howard officiating. Burial with Full Military Honors will be in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville at
