Benjamin R. Elliot, 78, died at home Friday, January 29, 2016, after a long illness while under the care of Georgia Hospice Care.
Mr. Elliot was a native of Brooklyn, NY, and lived there most of his life. After his retirement from Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn, he moved to Georgia and has been a resident of Hinesville for sixteen years. A veteran of the United States Air Force and Air Force Reserves, he was Eucharist Minister at St. Stephen First Martyr Catholic Church, and a GATLIN Award recipient from the Diocese of Savannah. He was Past Grand King of Peter Claver Roman Catholic Church in Brooklyn, NY, an active member of the Knights of Columbus, and the Men’s Club of St. Stephen First Martyr Catholic Church in Hinesville.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sally Elliot of Hinesville; daughter, Jacqueline Elliot of Brooklyn, NY; son Michael R. Elliot (Awilda) of Palm Harbor, FL; sisters, Iris Yvette Elliot, Michelle Nicole Snell; brother, Michael R. Elliot; brother-in-law, John Mills of Youngstown, OH; and very close family friend, Barton Adams of Brooklyn, NY.
Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, February 4, 2016, at 6:00 p.m. at St. Stephen First Martyr Catholic Church. Committal Service with Full Military Honors will be Friday, February 5, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.
