Mrs. Willie B. Shores, 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep February 10, 2016.
She was predeceased by her parents, all of her brothers and sisters and many of her nieces,
She was born and raised in Florida, where she lived in different areas throughout her life. She and Denzel moved to Georgia in 1993 to be close to their growing family. After looking over the area for a while, they finally decided to make Midway their home. They loved their friends, neighbors, and church family in Midway and never regretted the move here.
Willie was an avid homemaker. She kept a meticulously clean home even at the age of 90. In years past, she loved to sew, study her bible and teach Sunday School. She was saved as a child and grew up attending church. When she and Denzel married he was not saved nor did he attend church. For a
That same Sunday, Denzel decided to go with them to church and ended up following his son down the aisle. That was the happiest day of Willie’s life!
Every one of their descendants (that are of age) and their spouses have followed that decision to accept Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. Willie reaped a lifetime of rewards for following that one simple command “to get up and take Little Ray to church”. It just goes to show each of us how great the rewards (or consequences) of following (or not following) one simple command can be.
Mrs. Willie will be laid to rest next to her husband at a later date after a private ceremony with immediate family. The family has requested that any remembrances be made to her church (Fleming Baptist Church–Benevolence Fund).
