Sally P. Elliot, 77, died Sunday, March 27, 2016, at home while under the care of Georgia Hospice Care.

Mrs. Elliot retired to Hinesville sixteen years ago with her husband and soulmate of 57 years, Benjamin R. Elliot, who preceded her in death on January 29, 2016.

She was born in New Bern, NC, where she attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School.  She moved to Brooklyn, NY, graduated from John Jay High School and later attended City College.  She retired from Essence Magazine after 25 years of service.  An active member of St. Stephen First Martyr Catholic Church, she was in the Legion of Mary, Council of Catholic Women, St. Vincent dePaul, and the Silver Liners.  She was also a member of the Red Hat Society in Hinesville. 

Survivors are her daughter, Jacqueline Elliot of Brooklyn, NY; son and daughter-in-law, Michael R. and Awilda Elliot of Palm Harbor, FL; brother, John F. Mills of Youngstown, OH; two granddaughters; Iris Yvette Elliot and Michelle Nicole Snell; grandson, Michael R. Elliot; very close family friend, Barton J. Adams of Brooklyn, NY; and numerous other family members and friends.

Funeral Mass will be held Monday, April 4, 2016, at 6:00 p.m. at St. Stephen’s First Martyr Catholic Church with Father Adam Kasela officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Georgia Hospice Care, 141 South Macon Street, Jesup, GA  31545 or St. Stephen’s First Martyr Catholic Church, 399 Woodland Drive, Hinesville, Ga  31313.
