John Franklin Boucher (Papa) peacefully passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016 surrounded by friends and family. Frank was born in Grand Rivers, Kentucky on June 11, 1933 and grew up in Paducah, Kentucky. He worked briefly for the Illinois Central Railroad before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force to work as a radar and telemetry specialist. He received a Bronze Star for Meritorious Service after the Vietnam War. While stationed in Orlando, Florida, he met the love of his life, Bonnie Carol Alderman. On September 5, 1954, Bonnie and Frank were married and they had two daughters, Stephanie and Shelly. He earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Management and Finance from Rollins College in 1983. After 23 years of service in the Air Force, he retired and moved his family to Satellite Beach, Florida where he worked for the U.S. Postal Service for another 18 years. After retirement, he and Bonnie moved to Richmond Hill and have been active members of the community of the First Baptist Church of Richmond Hill. Frank, lovingly known as Papa, always loved tending to his yard, cheering on the Braves, eating sweets, and spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Grace Boucher; brother, William Boucher; sisters, Ruth Ann Boucher, Geraldine Henderson and Minnie Grace Rust.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Bonnie; daughter, Shelly McLoney and her daughters, Peyton and Erin McLoney of Satellite Beach, Florida; daughter, Stephanie Scofield and her husband Caroll; granddaughters, Natalie Hatala and her husband Nicholas of Richmond Hill, Georgia and Samantha Malcolm and her husband, Brandon of Atlanta, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Wesley and Marianne Hatala; brothers, James and Robert Boucher; sisters, Madeline Curtis and Linda Boucher; and numerous nieces and nephews.
We’d like to acknowledge the loving kindness of the nurses of Compassionate Care Hospice as well as the love and support from our friends and family during this time.
Funeral Service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2016 at The First Baptist Church of Richmond Hill and visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the Richmond Hill First Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors.
