Roscoe Francis Wells, Jr.

Born October 25, 1951, at Hunter Air Force Base in Savannah to Roscoe F. and Rose Clark Wells, Roscoe graduated from Bradwell Institute in 1969.  He worked for the State of Georgia in law enforcement for 35 years, serving with pride and dignity, and with respect for the laws of Georgia and our country. 

Roscoe was a Christian and a member of Gum Branch Baptist Church.  He was a loving family man who provided well for his family and was known for his dry sense of humor and wit.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family.  You knew his presence.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roscoe F. Wells, Sr.; brother, Douglas Wells; and sisters, Audrey Wells and Joyce Bennett.

He is survived by his wife Eva Tammy Duggan Wells; daughters, Brandis Wells (Nick Johnson) and Jamie Wells (Brock Poppell); son, Roscoe Eric Wells; mother, Rose Wells; mother-in-law, Blanche Beasley; sisters, Elaine Walker and Carla Bell (Mickey); brothers, Roger Wells (Kay) and John Wells; grandchildren, Chris Wells, Isaiah Curt, Braxton Mezo, Luke Poppell, twins Brody and Ava Poppell; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel.  The funeral will begin at 11 am, Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at Gum Branch Baptist Church with Reverend Gabe Gill officiating.  Burial will follow in the Gum Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.

Honorary Pallbearers will be State of Georgia Law Enforcement.  Active Pallbearers will be Chuck Short, Billy Wells, John Wells, Shane Wells, Mike Bell, and Jason Bell.

The family suggests remembrances be made to the Gum Branch Baptist Church Building Fund, 8590 Highway 196 West, Hinesville, GA 31313, or American Cancer Society, Relay For Life of Liberty County, 607 Oglethorpe Hwy, Hinesville, GA  31313.
