Ruth West Denham, 82, of Midway passed away peacefully on June 12, 2016, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah with her family by her side.
Ruth was born in Harnett County, North Carolina, on Feb. 4, 1934.She is survived by a son, Michael E. Denham (Mary); a daughter Harna D. Hill (Garry); three grandchildren, Meagan D. Mills (Jeremy), Garred Hill and Taylor Hill; four great-grandchildren, Cheyanne, Kinslee, Ayda and Noah; and brother, Jerry R. West (Betty) of Fayetteville, North Carolina.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harney D. Denham; her parents, J.R.P. and Betty West, as well as seven sisters and six brothers.
Ruth was a retired civil servant at Fort Stewart, an active member of the First Baptist Church of Hinesville, past worthy matron of the Button Gwinnett #497 Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Red Hat Society and the Cherokee Rose Canasta Club. She was a resident of Liberty County for more than 50 years.

A memorial service will be at First Baptist Church in Hinesville at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 15. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service, with the funeral ceremony of the Order of the Eastern Star beginning at 12:30. A private family burial will be held at a later date in Oglethorpe Memorial Park.
