SSG John H. Bruce (US ARMY, ret.) 80, died Friday, August 5, 2016, at Liberty Regional Hospital.
Born in Vicksburg, Mississippi, he had lived in Hinesville since 1978. He was retired from the United States ARMY after 24 years of service, having served in Germany, two tours of duty in the Vietnam War and a tour of duty in the Korean Conflict. Later, he retired from civil service after 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Della Bruce, his daughter, Diane Bruce, and son, Anthony Bruce.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Glean Bruce; son, John H. Bruce, Jr., of Hinesville; stepsons, Curtis Cooper (Alisa) of Hinesville and Gregory Cooper (Erica) of Elizabethtown, KY; brother, George Bruce of Chicago, IL; 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and several other family members.
Visitation will be 6-7 pm, Friday, August 12, 2016, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Funeral service will be at 11am, Saturday, August 13,
