Willie Mae Jones Steele, age 81, completed her lifelong earthly adventure on Saturday, August 20th, 2016, surrounded by caring family. She was born in Atlanta to the late William B. and Ethel Lowther Jones.
She was preceded in death by her loving and amazingly patient husband Emory Davis “Dave” Steele, Jr, a brother, Buddy Jones and a sister, Betty Dixon.
She is survived by three sons: William (Peggy) of Glennville, Bryan (Lee) of Hinesville, and Robert of Hinesville, and 4 grandchildren: Jennifer, Kelly, Patrick, and Derek. Also surviving are her siblings Elizabeth Meyer, Mildred Evans, Katherine Cato, William Jones, and many loving nieces and nephews.
A feisty, fun-loving, optimistic, and adventurous woman, her myriad occupations included television film editor, radio broadcaster, cable system developer, advertising agency owner, print shop owner, RV park manager, and finally hostess at
During her long membership at First Baptist Church of Hinesville, she was a member of the Wisdom Seekers Sunday School and enjoyed volunteering at the weekly Wednesday Night Suppers.
Visitation will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, August 23rd, at First Baptist Church of Hinesville, 220 Memorial Dr., with funeral services starting at 12:00pm, officiated by Reverend Roy Broughman. Interment will follow at Oglethorpe Cemetery in Hinesville.
Remembrances may be sent to Hinesville First Baptist Church Building Fund or Georgia Hospice Care, Jesup, GA.
