MSGT William C. (Bill) Henderson, Sr. (USAF, ret.), 83, died Sunday, August 21, 2016, at Savannah Hospice House surrounded by his family.

A graduate of LaVerne College (BS, Criminal Justice) and Golden Gate University (MBA), he was a resident of Richmond Hill for the past twenty years.  He was retired from the US Air Force after twenty years of service and the Santa Barbara County, California, Sheriff’s Department.  Bill loved his country and was devoted to his family, always there to listen or lend a helping hand.  He cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was an avid outdoorsman.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Norma Orleans Henderson; son, Charles Eli Henderson; granddaughter, Marissa Henderson; and sister, Charlotte Finley.

He is survived by four children, William Henderson, Jr. (Moni) of Blue Ridge, VA, James Henderson (Nancy) of Covington, GA, Judy Sahlberg (Doug) of Richmond Hill, and Janice Avant of Richmond Hill; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at Carter Funeral Home Bryan Chapel.  Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be in Daniel Baptist Church Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
