Leon F. Lamb, 89, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Hospital surrounded by his family.
He was born to Monroe Sanders Lamb and Sallie Mae Lamb in Wilkinson County, GA and has lived in Richmond Hill the past twenty years. He was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church and a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He retired from Sears after thirty-eight years of service then owned and operated a dry cleaning and laundry business for thirteen years. Leon and his wife Kay enjoyed traveling and spending time with their children and grandchildren searching for shark’s teeth in Fernandina Beach, FL.
He is preceded in death by his first wife Bernice Lamb; step-son Greg Pilkington; brother Dewey Lamb; half-brothers Eugene, Clifton and Lester Lamb and Bernard Howell and half-sister Aline Kimberly.
He is survived by his wife Catherine Lamb; children Patricia Lee (Jim) of Savannah; Greg Lamb (Kathy) of Savannah; James Pilkington of Midway; Gail Bailey (Don) of Bloomingdale and Joyce McJenkin (Steve) of Richmond Hill; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at 11:00-12:30 at Carter Funeral Home Richmond Hill on Saturday September 17, 2016. Mass will be held at 1:00 pm at St. Anne’s Catholic Church and burial will follow at Greenwich Section at Bonaventure.
