Ray R. Carter (SFC, U.S. Army, Retired), 67, passed away at home early Friday morning.
He lived most of his life in Richmond Hill. He retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years and was a Vietnam Veteran. He also retired from Roger Woods Foods after 20 years. He was an avid fisherman and loved working in his yard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter L. Carter, Sr. and Gladys Davis Carter; brothers, Walter L. Carter, Jr. and Freddie Carter; and sister, Sarah Pich.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ruth Carter; children, Ray R. Carter II (Dawn) of Port Wentworth, Michael Carter (Stephanie) of Rincon and Jennifer Pritchard (Joe) of Dadeville, AL; siblings, Mary Ann Clayton (Terrell) of Guyton, James Carter (Sharon) of Mohave Valley, AZ., Linda Aldrich of Statesboro, Tommy Carter (Mary) of Greenville, SC, Ralph Carter (
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at Carter Funeral Home Bryan Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial with Full Military Honors will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
