Milton Joseph Barratta, Sr., 81, died on February 10, 2017.
“Mickey” was born on November 5, 1935 in Savannah, GA, where he spent his childhood. In 1958, he and Sallie, his devoted wife of 54 years, made their home in Richmond Hill where they raised their seven children. He often recalled his early years as a student at Blessed Sacrament School, his time as a brick mason, being a milkman for Foremost Dairies, his employment at Dixie Lily, his 22 years working as a machinist at Savannah Shipyard and Foundry, and time spent working as a CNC operator for Hobart. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is preceded in death by his wife and two of their sons, Milton, Jr. and Ormond.
He is survived by their children, Louise of Ft. Pierce, FL; Velinda Burnsed (Dennis) of Pooler, GA; Nicholas “Nick” (Lisa) of Ellabell, GA; James of Pooler, GA; Cecilia Stender (Scott) of Richmond Hill, GA; and nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at Carter Funeral Home Bryan Chapel, Richmond Hill. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, February, 15, 2017, at 11 am in Oglethorpe Memorial Park, Hinesville, with Fr. Douglas K. Clark officiating.
