Ruthann Marie “Mitzie” Crowley, 80, passed away Monday, April 10, 2017, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah following a long illness.
Born August 31, 1936, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of Michael J. and Mary Ruth
Ruthann worked as a civil service employee at Force Modernization on Fort Stewart until her retirement after 20 years of service. She was an active member of the St. Stephens First Martyr Catholic Church for many years, and, after her retirement, was a volunteer her time at Liberty Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed saltwater fishing and hunting with her husband Jim and son Mike. She loved to cook for her family and friends, and was well known for her sour cream pound cakes.
Preceded in death by her parents, she is survived by her husband of 62 years, James M. (Jim) Crowley; their children, Lynn Crowley Blackmer (Rick) and Michael J. Crowley (Debra), grandchildren, Travis Crowley (Amanda), Stephen Crowley (Lindsey), Sarah Rowland (Les) and Veronica Malo (Aaron); great- grandchildren, Catherine, Ava, Dylan, Blake, and Olivia.
Visitation will be 12:30-1:30 p.m., Thursday, April 13, 2017, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 in the chapel. Interment will be in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Travis Crowley, Stephen Crowley, Aaron Malo, Wayne Rozier, Arthur Rozier, and Norman Rozier.
