Everette Ellington (Ell) Findley, 83, passed away on March 6, 2018 at home surrounded by family and loved ones.
Ell was born October 16, 1934 in Clyde, GA, and was raised in Richmond Hill. He was a third-generation master carpenter who helped build many structures, including the Richmond Hill Methodist Church Sanctuary. He contributed much of his time with the recreation department and with the Jaycees. Most importantly, he helped in the incorporating of the City of Richmond Hill. He spent his life devoted to his family, friends, and loved ones.
He is preceded in death by his wife and love of his life, Sylvia B. Findley; his parents, Perry Boyd and Olive Carter Findley; three sisters, Betty Seymour, Shirley Wilson, and Wilda “Bill” Findley Myrick; and two brothers, W.B. Findley and Elbert Findley.
Surviving are his son, Lamar Findley (Pam); granddaughter, Melissa Findley Leo (Gerard); grandson, Michael Findley (Jocelyn); and great-grandson, Tyler Findley; three sisters, Estelle Clark, Kathryn Wilson, and Miriam White; sisters-in-law, Christine Davis (Richard) and Patricia (Skee) Black; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Carter Funeral Home Bryan Chapel with a memorial service to follow at 4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, Mr. Findley has requested donations to be made to Compassus Hospice and Pallative Care, 107 Southern Boulevard, Suite 203, Savannah, GA 31405.
