Lawrence Gerald Pierre is now resting peacefully in the garden of the angels. He has been reunited with his mother, his father, and three brothers. Lawrence, our Daddy, will live eternally as our protector until we meet again.
Daddy grew up in St. Joseph Parish with six brothers and three sisters. He graduated from St. Joseph Government School. He became a carpenter by trade but built his wealth in family values and loved his entire family.
Daddy was a man of few words and no complaints. He was a very good listener who never placed judgment. When he tilted his head and gave you that serious but comforting look from underneath his hat, you instantly knew what he meant.
Whether you knew him as Gabby, Uncle Pierre, or Son, you knew that he could tell you anything that you needed to know about the family. Daddy did not care if you were a distanced cousin twice removed through marriage, he would make you feel close and comfortable. He loved all his children and grandchildren and was everyone's favorite uncle.
Daddy was a hardworking man who enjoyed cooking for his family and friends. He loved life and sitting with his friends under the mango tree by the gas station watching the people pass by.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Geraldine Jno Baptiste, 17 children, three brothers, three sisters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.... his legacy.
Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Online condolences can be made at www.carteroglethorpe.com.
