Richard W. Nail

MSG Richard Wayne “Rick” Nail (United States Army, retired), 71, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2018, at home.  Born October 23, 1946, in Winston Salem, NC, to Henry V. Nail, Jr., and Betty Ann Nail, he was a resident of Hinesville for 26 years. 

Rick joined the military in 1968, served in Vietnam, then returned home and worked for the US Postal Service for two years before returning to the Army.  He served 25 years in the Army, served in Korea and Germany, and retired honorably in 1995 at the rank of Master Sergeant. 

Rick married Tina Green Nail in Scottsboro, Alabama, on October 9, 1990, and together they moved to Germany, where he was stationed for 3 years, and then to Hinesville, where he retired from Fort Stewart.  He then went to work for, and later retired from, Georgia State Prison in Reidsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Tina Nail of Hinesville; daughters, Tiffany Nail of Hinesville and Demetria Nail of Davenport, FL; five grandchildren, Kendrick Nail and Makayla Whitty of Hinesville, and Amani, Alissandra, and Alivia Nail of Davenport, FL; brothers, Michael Nail (Jenny) of Winston Salem, David Nail of Morrisville, NC, and Byron Nail of Winston Salem; nieces and nephews, Jodi Jones, Josh Nail, Cassie Pruitt and Tyler Nail; best friend, David Snell of Hinesville; and several cousins and friends.

Visitation will be 10:30-11:30 am, Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel.  Memorial services will begin at 11:30 am in the Chapel, and interment will be at 1pm in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.
