Port Wentworth Henry E. Caines, Sr., 87, passed away at his home Tuesday, June 6, 2017, after a long illness. A WWII veteran of the United States Army, he was retired from Savannah Sugar Refinery and Kaiser Agricultural Chemicals. He was a former member of the Port Wentworth Planning Commission, Past President of the Port Wentworth Chamber of Commerce, a charter member of the Port Wentworth Jaycees, and former member of MRS 5-A. He is survived by his children, Jack Caines of Greenville, SC, Janice Caines Grumme (David) of Statesboro, Michael Caines (Mandy) of Hampstead, MD, Henry Caines, Jr., of Port Wentworth, Hank “Dinky” Cribbs (Jennifer) and Teresa Jackson (Johnnie), both of Guyton; former stepchildren, Shannon Caruso and Melinda Murphy of Statesboro; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 12pm-2pm, Saturday, June 10, 2017, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Graveside Service with military honors will follow in the Hinesville Cemetery at 2pm.
