Midway Frances B. Smoak “Bootsie”, 80, died Friday, February 24, 2017, at home while under the care of Heartland Hospice. She was surrounded by her family. Mrs. Smoak was Sr. Vice President of The Heritage Bank before retiring after 35 years of service. She was chairman of the Liberty County Hospital Authority, which oversaw Liberty Memorial Hospital, before it became Liberty Regional Medical Center. She was also a board member at Cherokee Rose Country Club and a volunteer for several charitable organizations. She was a member of Midway United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnie and Ruby Boyett; brother, John L. Boyett; and sister Gloria Jean Shaw. Surviving are her husband of 62 years, E. Lamar Smoak; daughters, Lynn Cannon (Joe), Terri Floyd (Charlie), and Lisa Duncan; a grandson, Joey Cannon, and a step-grandson, Clint Floyd. Visitation will be 1-2 pm, Monday, February 27, 2017, at Midway United Methodist Church, followed by the Funeral Service at 2 pm. Burial will be in Dorchester Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be past and present members of the Cherokee Rose Ladies Association and the Cheating Dozen Golf Club. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund (pancan.org) or Midway United Methodist Church, 215 Martin Road, Midway, GA 31320.
