James Donald Emerson "Donnie" Ratliff

SFC James Donald Emerson “Donnie” Ratliff (US ARMY, ret.), 42, died Monday, June 27, 2016, at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah from injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Hinesville on Saturday. Born in Titusville, Florida, he was a resident of Liberty County for nearly 30 years, and was a graduate of Glennville Christian Academy.  He served in the United States Army, including tours in Iraq and Kosovo and was medically retired after 18 years of service.  He was an active member of VFW post 6602 in Hinesville.  He is survived by his former wives, children, and stepchildren - Sonya of North Carolina and their son, J.D. Ratliff of Hinesville, Laura and their son and daughter, Palmer and Averie Ratliff of Kansas, and Julie and her son and daughters, Alex, Ari, and Amber, of Hinesville; his parents, Don and Trudy Ratliff of Hinesville; aunt and uncle, Kenny and Judy Ratliff of Scottsmoor, Florida; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.   Visitation will be 12:00-1:30 p.m., Friday, July 1, 2016, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel, followed by a Memorial Service at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel.  Committal Service with Full Military Honors will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.
