Jimmy Ray Wilson, Sr., 60, died Sunday, February 28, 2016, at Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan, after a short illness. He was born to Johnnie and Erma Wilson on July 6, 1955, in Christian, KY.  He grew up in Hinesville and graduated from Bradwell Institute in 1973.  After graduation, he moved to Michigan to play football for Central Michigan University.  He worked for General Motors until retiring after 20 years.  He worked as a foreman for Asplund Tree Service before retiring a second time.  He also owned and operated Jim’s Tree Service. He was preceded in death by a brother, Johnnie Wesley Wilson, Jr. He is survived by his children, James Anthony Wilson (Rachel) of Midland, MI, Jimmy Ray Wilson, II (Tricia), of Richmond Hill, Bailey Jewels Wilson of Caro, MI, and Hannah Wilson of South Dakota; grandchildren, Lydia Wilson, Sage Alyse and Payson Jewels Scott; brothers, Michael W. Wilson (Janene) of Richmond Hill and William H. Wilson of Hinesville; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 1-2 pm, Monday, March 7, 2016, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel.  Funeral Service will follow at 2 pm with Greg Ussery officiating.  Burial will be in Hinesville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bobby Ryon, Kenny Fussell, Mike Crowley, Lynn Holman, Jimmy McKinnon, and Mark J. Wilson.  Honorary pallbearers will be Donny Branch, Beamon Sapp, Dennis Donahue, Danny Donahue, and Jimmy Brewer. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to The Mary Lou Fraser Foundation for Families, Inc., 203 Mary Lou Drive Hinesville, GA 31313.
