Helen Meray Downs

Mrs. I.B. Downs, Jr. (Helen Downs), 85, died Sunday at her residence under the care of Heartland Hospice. A native of Savannah, she lived in Hinesville for 70 years. She attended Full Gospel Holiness Church. She loved spreading the Gospel and always told people she came in contact with “JESUS LOVES YOU”. She loved serving others and was a dedicated housewife for her husband of 70 years, 6 months. Mrs. Downs was predeceased by her son, Kenny Downs, and daughter, Georgia Lois Downs Meekins. She is survived by her husband, I.B. Downs, Jr., of Hinesville; brother, Johnny Beaden of Bloomingdale; grandchildren, John Downs (Debbie), Tanya Downs Gould (Michael), and Allison Westbrook Acevez, all of Hinesville; seven great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 11 am on Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at Crossroads Holy Church of God with Rev. Glenda Cooke officiating. Burial will follow in the Hinesville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Gould, Daniel Cooke, Ayden Ewing, John Ewing, Barry Bowen, and Herman Wiggins. Memorial donations may be made to Full Gospel Holiness Church, P.O.
