J. Wayne Strickland

Joseph Wayne Strickland, 65, died Wednesday at St. Joseph Hospital after a short illness.A native and lifelong resident of Chatham County, he was employed by Home Depot for 18 years. Known regionally as a talented artist, he was the lead singer for the Conservative Sound and Brass Band. He was a Methodist by faith. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dianne Ford Strickland. He is survived by his step-son, Gary Luker of Florida; brother, Travis E. Strickland (Peggy) of Columbia, SC; and sister, Judith C. Herren (Allen) of Midway. Visitation will be from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, Saturday, August 8, 2015, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm in the chapel. Burial will be in Hinesville Cemetery. Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
