Ella L. Cato, 78, died Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Candler Hospital in Savannah. A native of Sennfeld, Germany, she lived in Hinesville since 1977. Ms. Ella owned and operated Ella’s Florist in Hinesville for many years and was a member of Flemington Presbyterian Church. She became a United States citizen in 1962. She is survived by her companion, Charles R. Shaner of Hinesville; three sons, Albert Cato (Veronika), Willie Cato (Lisa), and Robert Cato (Faiza), all of Hinesville; one brother, Emil Ludwig (Elizabeth), and one sister, Isolde Krapf, of Germany; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 31, in the chapel at Carter Funeral Home with Rev. Deacon Chad Chaffee officiating. Burial will follow in Oglethorpe Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Frank Versele, David Street, Bert Cedola, John Baker, Jimmy Brewer, and Thomas Ovitt. Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
