Hinesville SFC Henry L. Dick (US Army, Ret.), 58, died Saturday at Piedmont Henry Hospital in Stockbridge, GA, after a sudden illness. A native of Guyana, South America, he lived in New York for several years before leaving for a career in the United States Army. He retired after 30 years of service, including tours in both the Persian Gulf War and the Iraq War. After retiring from the Army, he worked for QinetiQ North America as a civilian contractor in Afghanistan. He is survived by his wife, Myong S. Dick of Hinesville; sons, Henry Lee Dick of McDonough and Allen Dick (Tracie) of Hinesville; 3 sisters, Jean Ward, Margaret Wickham, and Veronica Wickham-Graham; 5 brothers, Dennis Primo, Charles Dick, Derrick Wickham, Samuel Wickham and David Wickham; and three grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5pm to 7pm, Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel, with Reverend Dr. Sinclair Thorne officiating. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Georgia Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Glennville. Pallbearers will be the United States Army Honor Guard, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, GA. Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
