Hinesville John Ervin Wells, 87, of Hinesville, Georgia, died Thursday, June 26, 2014, at home surrounded by those he loved and who loved him. He was a lifelong resident of Liberty County and the son of John and Anna Wells, who preceded him in death. He was the youngest of eleven children, all of whom also predeceased him: Mattie Hodges, Delores Long, Stella Proctor, Aline Ernst, Daisy Wells, Theodore Wells, Edgar Wells, Quinton Wells, Thomas Wells, and Alvin Wells. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Peggy Wells; daughters, Jeanette Wells Beard and Susan Wells Peckham; son-in-law, Larry Peckham; stepson, Jeff Vreeland and daughter-in-law, Pam Vreeland; four grandchildren, James and Nick Beard of San Francisco, Christina Peckham Kendrix of Miami, and Johnathan Vreeland of Hinesville; one great-grandson, Tyler Beard of Auburn, Alabama; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends and family from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, June 30, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel in Hinesville. Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Hinesville at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2014. Burial will follow in Oglethorpe Memorial Park.
