Frances Pauline Cooper Mobley

August 31, 1928 — May 25, 2014

Gum Branch Frances Pauline Cooper Mobley, 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 25, 2014, at her home in Gum Branch Community in the care of her family and Hospice Savannah. The daughter of the late B.H. and Algladis Green Cooper of Jesup, she was the widow of T. Winston Mobley and a loving, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was also preceded in death by her brother, W. (Bill) Cooper of Patterson. She retired from the Liberty County Board of Education after many years of faithful service in the Bradwell High School Cafeteria. “Miss Frances” was a beautiful and gracious southern lady who greeted you at her door with a smile, a hug, and a glass of her famous sweet iced tea. She was much loved and admired by all who knew her. A longtime member of Elim Baptist Church, she truly lived a life of Christian service to others. Surviving are her four children, Kaye Mobley-Coffman of Baxley, Faye Poole (Herman) of Jesup, Wayne Mobley (Kim) of Hinesville, and Cindy Thornton (David) of Gum Branch; twelve grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She also leaves behind her two faithful canine companions, Buddy and Tootie. The family wishes to thank Ms. Phyllis Long for the many hours of excellent and loving care she provided for their mother. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, at Carter Funeral Home, with funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel. Interment will be in Gum Branch Cemetery. Reverend Tim Hall will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Wayne Mobley, Herman Poole, Randy Mobley, Jiley Wells, Jack Yarborough, Donnie Chambliss.
