March 21, 1978 — April 27, 2014

Angela Nicole "Niki" Fowler, 36, was called home to be with God on Sunday, April 27, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer.                 Niki was born March 21, 1978 in Rochester, NY, to Robert and Patricia Cowley.  She graduated from Central Gwinnett High School in Lawrenceville, GA, and went on to obtain an accounting degree from Gwinnett College of Business in Lawrenceville.                 After moving to Hinesville in 2007, she began working as the accountant for the Kirk Healing Center and dedicated countless hours to helping the homeless of Hinesville.  She was compassionate and would always put others before herself.  She will most be remembered for the beautiful and contagious smile she constantly kept on her face and that she made friends everywhere she went.                 Niki was an avid reader who had as much of an appetite for knowledge as she did for life. She loved and quickly became an accomplished bowler, belonging to three different leagues. She attended worship services at Flemington Presbyterian Church.  She was a frequent participant in the activities at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church and Hinesville First United Methodist Church, where she had many friends.  She also belonged to a number of local organizations including the Morning Glory Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Cowley; grandmother, Barbara Fuller; and grandfathers, Howard Fuller and Michael Cowley.      She leaves behind to greatly cherish her memory her husband, Matthew McDermitt of Hinesville; aunt, "Linnie" Dykes of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; two sisters, Christine Cowley of Hinesville, GA, and Jessica Cowley of Clearwater , FL; grandmother, Elizabeth Cowley, of Rochester, NY; father, Robert Cowley of Rochester, NY; and two uncles, two aunts and eleven cousins.                 Visitation will be 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Friday May 2, 2014, Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel.  A Memorial Service will follow at 1:30 in the chapel. Her body will be cremated and interment will be private. Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Liberty Humane Society.
