Hinesville Joe E. Pruitt, 93, died Monday at his residence under care of Savannah Hospice. A native of Calhoun, AL, Mr. Pruitt lived in Hinesville for 57 years and was retired from Civil Service. He served in the US Army during WWII and later served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Live Oak Church of God and recently attended Trinity Baptist Church. He is survived by his daughters, Evelyn Westmoreland of Greenville, SC., Eddie Ruth Robbins of Hinesville, Elverta Strickland of Munsford, AL, and Pat Grubbs of Talladega, AL; eleven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Funeral will 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel with Rev. Tim Parrish officiating. Burial will follow in Oglethorpe Memorial Park with military honors. Active Pallbearers will be Paul Robertson, Spencer Mason, Tyler Mason, Hunter Mason, James Lell, and Benny West. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kent Mosley, Melvin Wells, Homer Tomkins, Eddie Simson, Bill Pennington, and Hospice Savannah Nurses and Staff.
