Chicago, IL Mrs. Dorethea Wells Schauber, 83, died Monday following a long illness. Dorethea was born to Edgar and Thelma Wells in their family home in Gum Branch on August 30, 1930. After marrying Hal Schauber, they moved to Jacksonville, FL, where they spent many years raising their family before moving to Winter Park, FL. Mrs. Schauber continued to live there for about 35 years after Hal’s death. Her last two and one half years were spent in Park Ridge, IL, just outside of Chicago, near her daughter Stephanie. Mrs. Schauber loved her Lord Jesus Christ and spent her life telling others about Him. Her daughters are grateful to Hospice for giving their mother a peaceful and gracious exit from this world into the arms of her Savior. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mathew Hal Schauber; sister, Mondell Nielsen; and brother, Scott Wells. She is survived by her three daughters, Linda Bennett (Tedd), Karen Agee (Randy), Stephanie Halkar (Tom); four grandchildren, Aimee, Curtis, Laura, and Jocelyn; one great-granddaughter, Christina; brother, Guy Wells; sister, Melba Smiley; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Funeral service will be Saturday at 11 am at Liberty Baptist Church in Gum Branch with Rev. Tommy Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Edgar Wells Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rainbow Hospice, 1601 North Western Avenue, Park Ridge, IL 60068.
