Richmond Hill Lillian Zipperer Tharpe, 88, died Monday, January 13, 2014 after a short illness. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of Ascension for more than 50 years. A lifelong resident of Savannah, she was known as Nanny by everyone. She raised three generations of Tybee Island Flip Flop Girls. She is preceded in death by her father, Countz Zipperer. Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Earl “Red” Tharpe, a retired member of the local IBEW #508; three daughters, Carolyn Groover, Paulette McIntyre (Syd), and Debra Landolt; grandchildren, Tina Langston (Dale), Toshie Landolt, Ethan Landolt, and Aaron Landolt; and great granddaughter, Erika Langston.
