Andrew Jarvis Allen III, of Richmond Hill, GA born August 29, 1940 to Virginia and Andrew J. Allen, Jr. died at home Saturday, November 30. He was born in Chicago, IL and is preceded in death by his son, Michael Shawn Allen from Trevor, WI and his great-niece, Amber Brand from Springfield, IL. He graduated in 1958 from Stonington High School in Stonington, IL and enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served in the 82nd Airborne Division. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1967 from the University Of Illinois College Of Dentistry. He practiced dentistry in Chicago until he became Director of Dental Services at the Dixon Developmental Center in Dixon, IL. In 1978 he joined the U.S. Army Dental Corps where he rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, The Army Services Ribbon, and The National Defense Medal. He retired from the U.S. Army in February, 1994. Jarvis enjoyed golf, hunting, target shooting and was an avid reader. Survivors include his wife, Margie of 36 years; his daughter-in-law, Kimberly Allen and her children, Andrew, Emily and William from Trevor, WI; his daughters Cheri (Tom) Koether and their daughter, Catie from Canton, GA and Cortney (Fred) Brown and their sons, Connor, William, Evan and Lincoln; his brother David Allen from Savannah, GA; and his step-sister, Linda Brand from Springfield IL; three nieces and two great-nieces, all from Illinois. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be directed to The Building Fund at St. Anne Catholic Church P.O. Box 648 Richmond Hill, GA 31324 A memorial Mass in celebration of Jarvis’ life will be celebrated Tuesday at 7:00 PM at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Richmond Hill, GA. A private burial with full military honors will follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery
