Colonels Island Douglas C. Hansen, 58, died Monday, July 1, 2013 at his residence after a short illness. He was a native of Greenville, SC. He lived in the Savannah area since the age of seven years and Colonels Island for two years. He was an active member and Trustee of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, and a former member and Trustee of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church, where he was a Deacon and Sunday school teacher. Adjutant Sons of Confederate Veterans the Savannah Militia Comp 1657 of Pooler. He was the former owner of the Bloomingdale Hardware Store and an operator with his father of the Circle H Angus Farm. Predeceased by a son Jeremiah David Hansen. Survivors are wife, Cindy Brown Hansen of Colonels Island; Stepsons but true sons of his heart, Teddy Joe Brown Jr. (Kelley) of Middleburg, FL; Jason Lee Brown (Jennifer) of Jacksonville, FL; Airman 1st Class USAF Jared Kyle Brown of Colonels Island, GA; Three grandchildren Shane, Chesney and Aubri; a brother John Howard Hansen of TN; Three sisters, Dana Sheppard (Carl) of Millen, GA; Diane Conway (Bill) of Moreland, GA; Debra Goode of Guyton, GA; Twelve nieces and nephews and One Aunt Ruby Lawrence Calhoun Falls, SC. Visitation will be held Friday, July 5, 2013 from 1-2 p.m. at Mt Olivet United Methodist Church and services will follow at 2:00 pm. Burial will be in Dorchester Cemetery, Midway, GA.
