Lilla Sauls, 101, of Midway, died peacefully Monday, March 04, 2013 at Woodlands Health Care. She was born June 06, 1911 in what is now Fort Stewart on the old Parker home site. A lifelong resident of Liberty County she retired civil service at Fort Stewart, and was an early member of Flemington Presbyterian Church. Lilla is preceded in death by her parents, Reppard and Beulah D. Parker; husband Tillman Sauls, daughter Dorothy Smith; sisters, Ida Bradley, Alma Bashlor, and Ruby Crowe. She is survived by her brother Reppard Parker Jr. (Lorena) of Hinesville; nieces, “Guardian” Nancy P. O’Neal (Seavy) of Savannah, Sue Newman (Baron) of Claxton, Darlene Carpenter (Craig) of Richmond Hill, Rosemary Sauls of Colorado; nephew Homer Sauls of Colorado; great nephews and niece that she had the pleasure of watching grow up, Seavy H. O’Neal lll., Benjamin P. O’Neal, and Summer N. Walker. Lilla also has several other great nieces and nephews in the U.S. Visitation will be 1-2 pm Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2pm and burial will be at Flemington Presbyterian Cemetery. Remembrances may be sent to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
