Ludowici Amy Louise Powell Deitz, 79, died Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Riverview Nursing home in Savannah. She was a native of Sylva, NC and lived in Liberty county for 27 years then residing in Long county for the past 12 years. Ms. Deitz was a member of Ludowici Church of God. She was employed as Supervisor at Liberty Industries in Walthourville, Ga. before becoming self-employed and co-owner of Bill’s BBQ in Walthourville and Ogden’s Grocery in Riceboro, Ga. Preceded in death by her husband Marcellus Deitz, Jr; father Ed Powell; mother Amy Lewis Powell; 3 brothers Doyle Powell, George Powell, and Jerry Powell; 4 sisters Betty Walker, Ora Berrier, Laura Brooks, and Patsy Powell. Survivors include her son Hayden and Berneice Deitz of Ludowici, 2 granddaughters; Shaunna Deitz of Ludowici, and Kaylen Deitz of Orting, Washington, a longtime family friend whom was loved like a daughter Ms. Harriet Blanchard. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 pm Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Funeral services will be 10:00am Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Carter Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Daniel Baptist Church Cemetery in Richmond Hill.
