Hinesville CSM Retired Daniel A. Mahaney 73, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at his residence after a long illness. A native of Cambridge, Mass Mr. Mahaney lived in Hinesville for 29 years. He retired from the Army as a Command Sergeant Major after 30 years and served 2 tours in Vietnam and tours in Korea. Recipient of the Meritorious Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal and many more. Survivors are 3 sons; Dennis J. Mahaney of Clayton, NC, Timothy J. Nkansah-Mahaney of Fresno, CA, Michael J. Mahaney of Kingsland, Ga; 2 Daughters Patti Mahaney of Tucson, AZ, Rebecca D. Mahaney of Atlanta, Ga.; 1 sister Donna Mahaney of Revere, Mass.; 1 Brother David Mahaney of Somerville, Mass.; 5 Grandkids and his loving significant other Carol A. Dupree of Hinesville. Visitation will be Friday, April 20, 2012 from 1:00 to 2:30p.m. at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel with a Committal Shelter Service at 3:00p.m. at Georgia Veterans Cemetery in Glennville with full military honors.
